Community Engagement & Other Effective Strategies for Increasing Local Acceptance of Energy Projects

A groundswell of local opposition to permitting renewable energy is hindering the development of solar and other renewables. This challenge may lead to difficulties in siting projects in suitable areas. Various groups and constituencies have raised concerns regarding solar, wind, and storage projects. In response, national organizations and private companies are working on strategies to engage key stakeholders, counter misinformation, and educate local government officials. This presentation will focus on analyzing the root causes of local opposition and the progress made in devising effective solutions to overcome these obstacles.
