The newly inaugurated US President Trump kept his pre-election promise, implementing a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% additional tariff on Chinese imports. The US is self-sufficient for nacelle assembly and tower supply, while blades, drivetrains and other electrical components are imported from Mexico, Southeast Asia, the EU, China and Canada. Despite the policy support, the US wind supply chain remains globalized and dependent on imports. • The 2023 US wind-related imported equipment was valued at $ 1.7 billion – the lowest volumes since 2013. Mexico, Canada and China represented 41% of the wind imports. • All OEMs are exposed to tariffs as they leverage their global supply footprint.
