Over the past decade or so, the renewable energy industry has used specific messaging to communicate its value to the government, businesses, and the general public. This language has been shaped to reach a left-leaning, enviro-friendly audience, with buzz phrases like “carbon footprint,” “sustainability” and “climate technology,” all highlighting our need to get to a “net zero” world. But times are changing. There is a new administration in Washington DC that sees fossil fuels as perfectly viable and frequently seeks to vilify clean energy as a costly burden. It is time to adopt new language that is more in line with the messaging coming from our nation’s leadership – “unleashing American energy.”
This talk will detail key talking points that will help clean energy companies cut through today’s political rhetoric and help bring an effective (and timely) bipartisan argument for renewable energy to the table. For example, now is a great time to amplify cost-saving messaging around solar savings and cheap clean energy as huge benefits for businesses and utilities alike. It is also a great time to leverage the positive impact of “American-made energy” – including massive job growth and economic stability. And, as more and more states battle extreme weather, those expanding their renewable energy production at record rates (like Florida and Texas) are quickly proving that the right messaging can spur a thriving clean energy landscape, even in politically right-leaning regions.
Attendees will learn new ways to approach their unique messaging to address pain points, and proven communications tactics for stress testing their company’s vision and mission within the context today’s policy and business climate. They will leave with the skills to effectively communicate the value of clean energy to today’s businesses, policy influencers and communities.
