Carrie Simpson is Vice President of Markets at Southwest Power Pool. Simpson is responsible for overseeing the development, design and delivery of all SPP market-based services. She collaborates with stakeholders to ensure the ongoing efficiency and reliability of the current electricity markets managed under the SPP Open Access Transmission Tariff, while also working on the development of additional value-added services. Prior to her current role, Simpson directed the ongoing development and implementation of Markets+.
Simpson has more than 20 years of experience in the electric utility industry, working in operations, power marketing, regulatory and market design. Before SPP, Simpson was the western markets director at Xcel-Colorado and earlier spent six years at SPP, working closely with members and stakeholders to develop and implement energy and ancillary services markets. Simpson holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard, a J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, and is licensed to practice law in Colorado.
