Won't somebody think of the CHILDREN!!! This is the mantra of the small, yet effective local and state opposition groups to wind, solar and battery projects. The outrage on potential health impacts to local residents has led to a flurry of counties across the United States to implement unworkable setback distances, sound and shadow flicker regulations. These ordinances effectively kill any chance of siting projects. It is important to fight this information with facts and public discussion on what constitutes a properly sited renewable energy project. In this brief Ted Talk I will share tales from the road from blue and red counties and success stories of how to provide decision makers the information they need to set standards that still allow the development of critical energy infrastructure.
