Industry leaders are sharing that operational, maintenance, obsolescence and decommissioning costs continue to rise. This is due to older components that are becoming more difficult to source. The quality of those components that were designed decades ago are facing compatibility issues from either component level repairs, or intermittent manufacturing on as ordered production. Wind farm output is continuing to decline on older farms are a rate of 1-2% annually.Â
Modernizing critical electrical components in the turbines achieves increased power production and reduced maintenance costs. Asset owners no longer need to decommission the turbine completely, but focus on key components in the power train to align the efforts to reduce maintenance costs and increase the power production of the turbine.
